Lactose intolerance?

Jack was born with a milk intolerance. I was told by many including my doctor that it was something he would grow out of by the time he's one. I've kept him on Similac Sensitive (lactose-free formula) for the first year. I slowly switched him to regular Similac in the last couple of months since his first birthday. He is tolerating it just fine. I've given him small amounts of yogurts and cheeses and he seems fine with them too.

For the past week I've been adding small amounts of homo milk to his cereal without a problem so Saturday I gave him a 100ml of homo milk and it went right through him. What a mess! Everything in his crib went straight into the wash. My little monkey was happy because he got another bath that day.

Does this mean he is still lactose intolerant? Should I start him with 1% or 2% milk instead? Will he ever be able to have regular cow's milk? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

The day that changed everything

Six years ago my world changed forever. I still can't describe the amazing feeling that took over me the second I met Alex.  He was so alert.  As he cried for the first time,  somehow I knew just what to do. As I hushed and gently rocked him while holding  him close to my heart....... he stopped..... he knew who I was..... he looked at me with love..... he stared at me with amazement..... my heart melted. Tears of joy ran down my face. That day I became a mommy.

Alex is six today.  Even though he is already a big boy we still call him our "pumpkin".
Alex has always been a pleasure to be around. He was a quiet and smart baby. He never cried and loved "Baby Einstein" dvds. He started talking very early and was spelling at 24 months.  Alex is very sensitive and cares deeply for loved ones. He's an amazing big brother. At school, he's the best reader in his SK class and we couldn't be more proud.  He hates vegetables and chocolate.  He loves playing video games and pizza.  I still can't believe six years have gone by so quick.

Alexander, I hope you have a super birthday!  I hope your party was fun. I hope you got what you wanted.  We love you to pieces! XOXO

PAMPERS HAS
COME A LONG
WAY SINCE THE 1960'S

Jack testing out the New Pampers Cruisers with Dry Max

Pampers has given me an opportunity to review their New Pampers Cruiser With Dry Max and let you know all about them. I used the diapers for one week and I'm  impressed!
Pampers claims that the new diapers are 20% thinner..... I didn't think 20% would be a big difference but the new diapers feel very thin not to mention how soft they are!
Good news for babies especially in hotter weather.
The new diaper design also helps families reduce their impact on the environment by containing 10 percent less material weight so if you can't use cloth diapers it's a smart alternative. Switching to Pampers with Dry Max could together throw away the weight of 1 billion less diapers every three years!

I put a diaper to the test.
This diaper is  holding 1000ml of water!

After pressing firmly on the diaper, the paper towel was completly dry!

Even though Jack would rather not wear a diaper at all, the New Pampers Cruisers with Dry Max definently didn't slow him down and his favourite characters are a bonus.

Tough questions

I've recently been buying chicken in bulk directly from the wholesaler. This way it's fresher, I save tons of money,  and I save kitchen prep  time by buying only fresh boneless and skinless breasts and fillets.
Anyhow as I sat in the van with Eric and a sleeping Jack waiting for my husband George who went inside to buy the chicken  when Eric started to ask questions. "How do they kill the chickens mommy?". Wow was I ever speechless. I ended up telling him they give the chickens special medicine (stupid thing to say....considering he already hates taking any type of medicine.... now he's probably worried it will kill him). He accepted the answer and went back to playing his Nintendo DS. I however continued to think about his question and wondered what other questions was I going to get next.  It somehow didn't feel like lying, just like Santa or the Tooth Fairy but felt wrong nonetheless.

All I'm saying is that it's so hard trying to keep innocence and magic in my children's lives as I try and explain the dangers of the world and how they should never talk to strangers because bad people who can potentially hurt them exist.
